In April, the town of Rising Sun, Indiana, celebrated the arrival and installation of the Veterans Tribute Tower, the first of its kind in the United States. The Veterans Tribute Tower, a project of the Veterans Coalition, the Commission on the Future for America’s Veterans and The Verdin Company, honors the men and women who serve or have served in the U. S. Armed Forces.

Indiana native, Vietnam veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis, was one of the honored guests for this event. One of only 105 Medal of Honor recipients still living, Davis repeatedly risked his life during his tour of duty more than 40 years ago.

The event included an Ingot Parade where local students loaded 500 pounds of bronze ingots into a furnace in preparation of casting the 250 pound bells, a wreath laying ceremony, Bagpipers performance and concluded with the first bell ringing by Indiana Veterans. The 30 foot tall bell tower stands as a lasting tribute to the country's veterans.
