Brotherhood Assistance

Awarded on an as-needed basis and as resources permit, to assist trooper members with catastrophic events such as death, severe injury, illness, natural disasters and financial stress caused to the family of troopers by any of these events. (Our members' needs come first but AAST frequently assists worthy non-member troopers as funds permit.)

National Newsletter

Trooper Connection - an informative quarterly newsletter to keep AAST members up-to-date on AAST news and information from state police and highway patrol departments across the United States.

AAST Scholarships

The AAST Scholarship Foundation accepts scholarship applications submitted between January 1 and July 31 each year from the dependents of trooper members.

Over a three year period, up to $2,500 in scholarships may be awarded to AAST members' dependents who qualify. For more information, visit the AAST Scholarship Foundation page.

AAST benefits and coverage levels are subject to periodic review and revision by the AAST Board of Directors.

AAST Members,
Have You Updated Your Beneficiary Lately?

link to beneficiary form

Now is the time to think about who you have listed as your primary and contingent beneficiary(ies). Oftentimes AAST members overlook AAST's life insurance policy and as a result, we are compelled to pay benefits to a person listed who is no longer an accurate or appropriate beneficiary. It has happened in the past where benefits have been paid to former wives and family. In some cases, a member will not have a beneficiary form on file and in those instances the life insurance will not be paid until the estate goes to a probate court.

Here are key reasons for making sure you have an updated beneficiary form on file:

  • Have there been any changes since you first became a member of AAST?
  • Are you recently divorced?
  • Are you recently married?
  • Is your current beneficiary now deceased?
  • Are all your children accurately listed?

Please send updated beneficiary information to Christine Brasher, Membership Services Director, at AAST, 1949 Raymond Diehl Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
